On 15 September we used to celebrate the International Day of Democracy. The united nation has declared September 15 International Day of Democracy. When we about the democracy and its shape, we find where the citizens of the country have right to choose their representative by election and send them in parliament temple. There is no kings who have power or have domination on the people in the democracy but there is a system by the rules and regulations has made and in implemented by the help of people who has appointed in the system.
Everyone has equal right to live in the democracy what may be their condition and weather they are women or men. India is world’s largest democracy country when India has got freedom and many years before when India was slave of British government, the seed of democracy was start growing and Baba saheb Dr. Bheem roa Ambedkar had written the constitution of India in which he defined the meaning of democracy.
There are multi party elections with universal subject only to an age restriction, smooth change over in the government after elections, existence of an independent press and judiciary and there is guarantee of civil liberties justiciable in the courts of law in Indian democracy.
The term ‘Democracy’ means- Democracy as defined by Abraham Lincon, the sixteen president of the USA, is government of the people for the people and by the people and the main objective of the international Day of Democracy is to raise awareness about the Democracy and the people of all around of the world to get knowledge about democracy and review the democracy in the world.
But at the sometime we forget how democracy gives us human rights and protections and it works as the bridge between the civil society and the political class and show the responsibility to rule. If we see the UN’s World happiness report for 2020 then we find that the list of top 10 countries is heavily loaded with the democracy of western Europe in which the U.S. barely edges into the top 20 while India, on the other hand, is ranked 144 out of the 153 countries evaluated.
People must be satisfied with the life which is provided very little in thought at the present time in the democracy. The first prime minister of India Pandit jawahar lal Nehru had said in his speech on August 15, 1947 that the goal of independence was to create institutions which will ensure justice and fulfilling of life to every man and woman. Democracy isn't synonymous with statism, it's about the people.
