On the occasion of National Dengue Day, an awareness rally of the Health Department was taken out from the office of the Chief Medical Officer till Baili village. District Malaria Officer and other employees of Health Department were present on this occasion. During the rally, people living in Baili village area and other public were informed about creating awareness about dengue.
On this occasion, District Malaria Officer Anand Singh said that this time due to the hard work of the officials and the department, dengue is under control. The department is busy in preparations for the coming days. Before the arrival of monsoon, the department wants to give this message to the people through awareness that the sting of dengue is not less deadly than corona, if you want to avoid then you have to be careful and be aware. Your awareness can save you from dengue. Therefore, do not allow water to accumulate around you and cover the pits with soil. Will take care of cleanliness, this time the public will attack on dengue.
While concluding the rally, Anand Singh said that in the midst of the second wave of corona, dengue had spread in the district. Dengue sting was more prevalent in the Terai region. In such a situation, in the year 2021, 299 positive cases of dengue were found and two patients died in them. At that time, Govindpur, Chhota Baghada, Medical College Girls Hostel and Dhumanganj were more effective than dengue in sensitive areas.
Dengue is caused by the bite of the Aedes mosquito, which bites during the day. This mosquito has white stripes on its body, due to which it is also called tiger mosquito. This mosquito cannot fly very high. Its larvae thrive in clean water. Therefore, do not allow water to collect in the cooler, fridge tray, roof tire, pot etc. around you and do not allow the larvae to grow.
What are the symptoms of dengue
High fever, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pain, nausea, vomiting, swollen glands or rash, the district malaria officer said. These symptoms usually last for 2 to 7 days. Severe dengue is a potentially fatal complication 4 to 10 days after the bite of an infected mosquito, characterized by leakage of plasma, dehydration, respiratory distress, severe bleeding, or organ loss. Apart from this, severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, rapid breathing, bleeding gums, fatigue, restlessness and vomiting blood. If the patient is not treated in time, the condition can become even more fatal.
how to prevent
Cover, empty and clean the domestic water storage containers on a weekly basis, do not allow water to accumulate in the pots or any other utensils placed on the roof of the house, coconut shells, tyres. Water storage containers should be covered with lids. During the rainy season, one can wear clothing that covers the arms and legs. Mosquito nets can be used while sleeping. Personal protective measures such as insecticide-treated bednets, coils and vaporizers can be used to prevent mosquito bites. Mosquito repellent creams can be used during day time to prevent mosquito bites.
